Live Events

When COVID-19 shut down the entire live events industry, like most, CMI shifted to virtual shows.  Within the first six months of the pandemic, the organization curated over 175+ live events online across Canada, paying artists over $350,000 in performances fees and paying video and content creators over $215,000.

The Live Events division is the result of a collaborative relationship between Coalition Music and the national not-for-profit, Canada’s Music Incubator. What started as a meeting of the minds, and shared resources to create paid performance opportunities for emerging artists has grown into a full-service venture with multiple corporate, private and governmental clients. Since 2016, CMI has curated over 600+ “live events” across Canada and given over $1,175,427.00 directly to Canadian artists.

…….and 50% of the profit from EVERY event goes straight back to CMI so they can continue to offer professional development and ongoing mentorship to emerging artists and managers!

CMI has a mandate to help artists and artists managers evolve from starter companies into sustainable businesses through hands-on networking, mentoring, and collaboration. This is accomplished through many different programs, workshops, boot camps, and resources that are specifically tailored for each artist and artist manager that CMI works with. Coalition and CMI’s Live Events department works with private and community partners across the country curating paid performance opportunities for artists. All revenue and commission incurred for the service(s) is invoiced and made out to Canada’s Music Incubator as a not-for-profit donation. This ensures further help and resources needed for CMI to continue working with developing artists and managers.

Revenues/commission/fees are usually confirmed on a project by project basis, but the majority of the time a booking fee (donation) of approx. 10% is requested OR a flat rate fee (to cover expenses) with a donation to CMI included.
